Deed from James Cusk to Timothy Root

To All People to Whom These Presents Shall Come: Greeting
 
Know you that I, James Cusk, Indian of Stockbridge, in the State of the Massachusetts Bay, one of the descendants of original Tunxis Tribe of Indians, by and with the advice of Colonel John Strong and Elnathan Gridley, two of the Committee appointed by the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut to advise and direct in the sale of Indian land, for the consideration of  twelve pounds lawful money received to my full satisfaction, of Timothy Root of Farmington in the County of Hartford and State of Connecticut do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Timothy Root and to his heirs and assigns forever all the right, title, interest, claim, and demand that I have might or should have to the original Indian grant lying on the west side of Pequabuck Meadow in said Farmington which accrues to me by virtue of a deed from my father, Cusk Indian,[1] and also all my right that shall or may descend to me as one of the descendants of said original Tunxis Tribe, and also to six acres of land which my said father purchased of Isaac Awiskheag by a deed dated November 14, 1754[2] and butted as in said deed.  Also, all my right in the Indian lands purchased by the said Committee for the Indians by the money received for the land in the Indian Neck that in the original and that purchased by the said Committee, being undivided rights.
 
To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof unto  him,    the said Timothy Root, and to his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, I, the said James Cusk , do for myself and my heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant with the said Timothy Root and with his heirs and assigns, that, at and until the ensealing of these presents, I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple; and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all encumbrances whatsoever.  And, furthermore, I, the said James Cusk, do by these presents, bind myself and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him, the said Timothy Root, his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.
