Sisson, Gilbert, 1769 - 1840

Major Gilbert Sisson (March 13, 1769-September 11, 1840) was the son of William Sisson and Mary Noyes of Stonington, Connecticut.  He married Desire Maine in 1791.  Among their children were Charles, Benjamin F., and Oliver A.  A prominent member of North Stonington's civic and military life, Sisson was a cabinet maker and merchant.  Sisson was an endorser of a petition to the Connecticut General Court in 1815.  He also made coffins for the Eastern Pequot tribe.
