Gould, Brister, 1759 - 1823

Brister (Bristoe/Bristol) Gould was the son of Besse, a woman of color from Abington, Massachusetts.  He married Phebe Squinn on January 15, 1797 in Middleborough.  The couple had a number of children: Betsey (1797), Lydia (1799), Jane (1801), Ruby (1803), Melinda (1805), Zerviah (1807), and Benjamin (1809).  Gould was a teamster during the American Revolution.  He drowned at Hawley in East Weymouth in 1823.  F.
