Williams, Daniel, - 1716

Reverend Dr. Daniel Williams (c. 1643-January 26, 1716) was born in Wrexham, Denbigshire, Wales.  He became a non-conformist minister in Ireland (1664 to 1687) as the chaplain to the Countess of Meath and preacher at Drogheda's Presbyterian congregation (1667-1687).  He removed to London on the fall of 1687 and became known as a prominent Dissenter.  When he died in 1716, his voluminous library for the use of scholars and his entire estate of £50,000 to charity, some of which was donated to the New England Company and disbursed as an annuity by the Harvard Corporation for the work of converting the Indians.  Wikipedia.   William of Daniel Williams, Colonial Society of Massachusetts. Image courtesy of Wikipedia.
