Fairhaven

Fairhaven is a town in Bristol County, Massachusetts in the territorial homeland of the Wampanoag.  Massasoit and his son Wamsutta conveyed it to English colonists in 1659 as the eastern-most part of the town of Dartmouth in Plymouth Colony.  Called Cushea, it was settled in 1659 as part of Plymouth Colony.  When the town of New Bedford was created in 1787, it included Fairhaven but Fairhaven separated from New Bedford in 1812.
