Sauk (Quinnipiac), John, - 1731

John Sauk, alias George Sagamore II, was the son of George Sagamore I, who succeeded to the East Haven Quinnipiac sachemship at the death of Shambisqua in 1721.  Under his leadership, he and his council sold most of the remaining East Haven Indian lands to the colonists and in 1731 negotiated with John Morris a plan to remove the tribe to Waterbury.
