Wilcox, John, 1625 - 1676
John Wilcox was the son of John Wilcox, possibly of Bury-St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England. He immigrated to Hartford, Connecticut with his father by 1639 but removed to Middletown in 1654, where he was a pail maker and selectman. In 1646 he married Sarah Wadsworth, the daughter of William Wadsworth of Hartford. As a widower, he married three more times, one of his wives being Esther Cornwall, the daughter of Sergeant William Cornwall. Wilcox was an early landowner at Wangunk Meadow.
