Denison, Titus

Titus Denison was an enslaved African American who was emancipated by George Denison in Stonington in 1801.  Titus appeared in Stonington's census in 1820, aged over 45, with four in his household.  By 1830, he and his wife Sarah are enumerated in North Stonington in a household of two.  The Eastern Pequot's overseer Ezra Hewitt paid Titus for keeping John Poheage in April 1834 and Moses Brushell in early January 1835 and 1843.
