Wyyougs, Sarah, 1806 - 1868

Sarah A. Wyyougs was the daughter of Martha Shantop and either Gurdon or Occom Wyyougs of the Mohegan Tribe in Montville, Connecticut.   She married Bartholomew Smith around 1826 in Montville and had children Bartholomew and Fidelia.  Upon the death of her husband she remarried to James Huntington Roath and had a son Charles James Smith.  In 1850 she was a signatory to a petition to the Connecticut General Assembly protesting the ability of several individuals of selling shares in Mohegan Tribal lands.  Remonstrance of Anson D.
