Whitman, Samuel, 1676 - 1751

Reverend Samuel Whitman (1676-July 31, 1751) was the son of Zachariah Whitman and Sarah Alcock of Hull, Massachusetts.  A graduate of Harvard College in 1696, Whitman was ordained minister of the Farmington Congregational Church in 1706 and served to 1751.  Employed by the New England Company, he preached and taught at a revived school for Indian youth in Farmington in the mid-1730s.  After his death, Whitman was followed by Timothy Pitkin.
