Carter, William , 1759 -

William Carter was, around 1780, brought from Guinea to Boston, Massachusetts, where, according to him, he was "cast on shore" in the harbor and robbed by his captor, the master of the vessel. He resided in Herring Pond from at least 1790. In 1808, he signed a petition to the Massachusetts General Court, protesting another petition that advanced positions contrary to the interests of the Herring Pond and Black Ground Indians.
