Petition of Moses Roberts to the Massachusetts General Court

To the Honorable the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court Assembled

Respectfully shews Moses Roberts of Grafton in the County of Worcester that he is the Trustee of the Hassanamisco or Grafton Indians, one of whom by the name of Moses Gimbee, died a few years since in the Town of Worcester, having a dwelling house and garden and about a quarter of an acre of land besides and having also a widow and one child,1 namely, Olney Gimbee2 and Leander Gimbee,3 4 and your petitioner shews that the dwelling house aforesaid is now out of repair and in order to be tenantable, it requires to be repaired, and no means are in your petitioner['s] hands for making such repairs unless he can be permitted to dispose of a part of the land aforesaid.  He, therefore, prays that he may be authorized and empowered to sell the aforesaid quarter of an acre of land belonging to the estate of said deceased and that the proceeds thereof may be applied so far as necessary in repairing said house and the remainder, if any, be held by your petitioner for the benefit of all persons interested in said estate.
