Hall, John, 1619 - 1695

John Hall was the son of John Hall and Esther Willicke of Kent England, and brother of Richard Hall (1620-1691).  After his immigration to New England around 1635, he, with Thomas Allen and Samuel Stocking, was elected deacon of the Congregational Church of Middletown in 1670 and served to the time of his death.  In civil affairs he was town clerk and recorder for Middletown from 1661 to 1695 and represented Middletown in General Court in 1653 and several other times.  Hall was one of those appointed by the town to lay out the second and third divisions of land.  He was a member of several commissions organized by the Connecticut General Court and by the Town of Middletown to ascertain the bounds of the Indian land at Wangunk in 1666.  In 1675 the court appointed him and Nathaniel White to lay out the bounds of Haddam.
