Summons for the Pequot Tribe relative to the Petition of Moses Sampson and Others of the Pequot Tribe

To the Sheriff of the County of New London, his Deputy or to either of the Constables of the Town of Ledyard or to any Indifferent Person to Serve and Return, Greeting     
 
By authority of the State of Connecticut you are hereby commanded to summon the Pequot Tribe of Indians, located and being situated in the Town of Ledyard, to appear before the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut to be holden at New Haven on the first Wednesday of May AD 18501 on Tuesday of the second week of the session2 thereof to shew cause why the prayer of the foregoing petition shall not be granted and you are to leave a true and attested copy of the foregoing petition and of this citation with William Morgan, the overseer of said tribe, at least twelve days before the day mentioned for appearance before said legislature to the end that the same may be fully known to said tribe.  Fail not but lawful service and return make.
