Stanley, Gad, 1735 -

Major Gad Stanley was the son of Thomas Stanley and Esther Cowles of Farmington, Connecticut.  He was captain of the Second Battalion, Wadsworth;s brigade, to reinforce the main army.  Stanley served at Long island, Kip's Bay, and White Plains, when he was promoted to the rank of major.  In 1778, he was lieutenant coonel of the Fifteenth regiment, and served to the close of the war.  Connecticut, U.S., Town Birth Records, pre-1870, Ancestry.  Mary J.
