Waterman, Elisha, 1777 - 1857

Elisha Waterman was born on October 1, 1777 in Lebanon, Connecticut, son of Andrew and Elizabeth Fitch Waterman.  As a young man, in May of 1806, he obtained his Seaman’s Protection Certificate suggesting employment in the maritime trades.  He married Elizabeth Fitch Mason, a very distant cousin, on October 1, 1812.  Waterman was both a school teacher and farmer.  In addition, he was involved in civic affairs serving at various times over the years as a representative in the Connecticut House of Representatives, a member of the Connecticut State Senate, as well as, a Selectmen of the Town of Lebanon.
 
Elisha Waterman died on March 30, 1857 and was buried in Goshen Cemetery in Lebanon, Connecticut.
