Peters, Samuel, 1770 - 1854

Hon. Samuel A. Peters was a prominent attorney and long-time resident of the Town of Colchester, Connecticut.  In addition to his legal practice, Peters was involved in civic affairs serving as Postmaster from 1798-1818, multiple terms as a representative to the Connecticut General Assembly between 1820-1834 and one term as a Connecticut state senator for the 9th District in 1833.
 
He was born January 17, 1770 in Colchester.  On January 17, 1799, a t the age of 29, Peters married Orrel Wyles.  Mrs. Peters died on May 20, 1835.  Samuel lived another two decades, passing away in Colchester on December 19, 1854 at the age on 85.
