Gallup, Isaac, 1789 - 1867

Isaac Gallup was the son of Captain Isaac Gallup and Anna Williams of Preston, Connecticut. After his apprenticeship in the building trade with Colonel Joseph Smith, Gallup became a carpenter.  While he lived in Preston, he made a coffin for a Pequot child in 1823. In 1829 Gallup  removed his family to Greeneville to work on the construction of damn that would power a factory.  They later moved back to Preston, where he continued as a builder and a farmer.
