Sentencing of Stephen Wampum, Indian Man, by the Barnstable County Court

This ninth day of July 1695, Stephen Wampum, Indian, was brought before me, Stephen Skiffe, Esq., Justice of the Peace, and there was convicted by his own confession, of stealing a lace handkerchief from Joseph Jenkins,1 value ten shillings, and not having wherewithal to make satisfaction, is sentenced to be sold to any of Their Majesties' subjects for one year from the day of the date hereof.  Witness, Stephen Skiffe
