Information from Daniel Gookin, Sr. to the Massachusetts General Court
For the Honble Counsel at Boston
These may certify that the bearer hereof, Zachery Abraham, one of our most active Indian soldiers together with five other Indians of this company,1 went out with six Englishmen of Medfield and the said Indians were the persons that, by his quick running, took three Indian men, one being committed to two Englishmen, escaped. The other two were kept and sold at Boston. The Indians desire the Council will order the English of Medfield to pay them a just share of the spoil, and whereas the English demand 10£ for bringing the prisoners down to Boston. The Indians allege they kept the prisoners three or four days with their guns and found their [ illegible ] all that time to [ illegible ] there that coming therefore to Your Honors is just they should have an equal share. Their case they humbly submit to the Council.
