Cooper, George Washington, 1818 - 1885

George Washington Cooper was the son of Thomas Cooper and Susannah Talknot of Gay Head, Massachusetts.  He spent his early years at sea and married Sarah Pocknet on December 18, 1855, at New Bedford.  The following year he was back on the ocean until 1858.  He returned to be a farmer on 4 acres.  Pierce and Segel, Wampanoag Families of Martha's Vineyard, 169-170.
