Johnson, Simon II (Gay Head), 1814 - 1875

Simon Johnson was the son of Hannah Johnson of Gay Head, Massachusetts, and the husband of Emily G. Salisbury.  The couple had at least three children, Hattie, Hannah C., and Leroy.  Johnson was a seaman, away from Martha's Vineyard from 1829-1832 on the Eagle, from 1844-1848 on the John Adams, from 1851 to 1854 on the Robert Morrison, and from 1855 to 1860 on the Mermaid.  When he returned, he farmed ten acres of land, where he died in 1875.  Pease, Pease Report, 53. Pierce and Segel, Wampanoag Families of Martha's Vineyard, 464-465.
