Tecomwas, Sarah , 1812 - 1898

Sarah (Sally) Tecomwas, alias Sarah or Sally Tantaquidgeon, was the daughter of Cynthia Tecomwas, a member of the Mohegan tribe in Montville, Connecticut.  In 1830, she married Jacob Fowler.  They had a son, Edwin Fowler, and a daughter, Cynthia Fowler, both survived her.  A member of the Mohegan Congregational Church, she served as a nurse for her Montville community.  In 1850 she was a signatory to a petition to the Connecticut General Assembly protesting the ability of several individuals of selling shares in Mohegan Tribal lands.  A Mohegan Genealogy by Niyayodqj, Ancestry.
