Pomeroy, Benjamin
Born in Tolland County, Benjamin Pomeroy was an attorney with a practice at North Stonington, Connecticut. There he held the position of postmaster, representative to the General Assembly, and collector of customs at the port of Stonington. He also served as justice of the peace for North Stonington, and judge of the New London County Court (1842-1843). Pomeroy moved to Stonington Borough by 1851 when he built a house that may have been a stop on the Underground Railroad.
