Obed, Martha, - 1805

Martha Obed was most likely a daughter of Tom Obed of the Niantic Tribe and the wife of Zachary Johnson.   The couple had at least one child.  According to one account, the Johnsons were basket makers.  At her death in 1805, she was quite old; however, newspapers incorrectly reported her age at 120.  Love, Samson Occom, 349.  Eva L.
