Leathercoat, John, 1706 - 1761

John Leathercoat (c. 1706 - ).  Formerly with Lampson's company, he enlisted into Capt. James Harris, Jr.'s 5th Company, 2nd Regiment, May 11, 1756.  Albert Carlos Bates, Rolls of Connecticut Men in the French and Indian War, 1755-1762, Vol. I, 1755-1757 (Hartford, 1903) 118, 119.  In 1758, he served in Capt. Timothy Mather's 11th Company of the 3rd Regular Connecticut forces.  Albert Carlos Bates, Rolls of Connecticut Men in the French and Indian War, 1755-1762, Vol. II, 1758-1762 (Hartford, 1905) 69.  At the time of Stiles' census in 1761, Leathercoat was in Zebulon Butler's 8th Company of Connecticut's First Regiment.  Ibid. 250.
