Hewitt, Eli, 1764 - 1814
Eli Hewitt, the son of Charles Hewitt and Hannah Stanton of Stonington, Connecticut, and the husband of Betsy Wheeler. Hewitt was a farmer in North Stonington, Connecticut. He replaced his father as overseer of the Eastern Pequot Indians in 1804. His brother Stanton replaced him in this responsibility in 1812. Eli Hewitt died on February 10, 1814.
