Goodrich, Elizur, Jr., 1761 - 1849

Elizur Goodrich (March 24, 1761-November 1, 1849) was the son of Elizure Goodrich of Durham, Connecticut.  A  graduate of Yale College (1779), he began practicing law in New Haven in 1783.  Goodrich was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives (1795-1802, clerk for six sessions and speaker for two sessions), the U.S. Congress (1799-1801).  He served as collector of customs for New haven (1801-1803), professor of law at Yale College (1801-1810), judge of the probate court (1802-1818) and chief judge of the New Haven County Court (1805-1818).   Biographical Directory of the United States Congress.
