Davenport, Abraham, 1715 - 1789

Abraham Davenport (Yale 1732) was the son of John Davenport and Elizabeth Morris of Stamford, Connecticut.  A lawyer in his hometown of Stamford, Davenport also was one of its surveyors (1738), selectman (1746-1777), colonel of the militia, judge of probate and of common pleas for Fairfield County, and deacon of the Congregational Church (1759-1789).  Davenport served in the Connecticut House of Representatives (1747-1766) and in the Senate from 1766-1784.  J.
