Billings, Coddington, 1770 - 1845

Coddington Billings (October 1770-February 6, 1845) was the son of Sanford Billings and Lucy Geer of Stonington, Connecticut, and the husband of Eunice Williams (the daughter of General William Williams).  Employed as a merchant in Stonington, Billings removed to New London, where he was involved in several businesses.  He and Eunice had two sons, two sons, Noyes (1800-1865) and William Williams (1802-1885) who became merchants and agents in the whale fishing trade.  Billings served as a selectman of Stonington (1803, 1805-1812), clerk to the Stonington probate court (1804 and 1806) and by 1811 became one of that court's judges.
