Barnes, Nathan, 1778 - 1854

Nathan Barnes (May 10, 1778-December 28, 1854) was the son of Ezra Barnes and Eunice Morgan of Groton, Connecticut.  Barnes served as a private under Stephen Billings during the War of 1812 in the summer of 1813 and in August of 1814.  The following year, Barnes let some of his cattle out in the Eastern Pequot Indian Town pasture. He and his wife Mary (nee Welch) were listed in the Preston federal census with his son Nathan, Jr., daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.  His occupation was a farmer and held real estate valued at $2,000.  Barnes died in Ledyard four years later.  Find A Grave  Connecticut Federal Enumeration (Preston, 1850), Ancestry.  Record of Service of Connecticut Men in the Revolution, Vol. 2, 11.
