Edward Hooker (1785-1846) was the son of Colonel Noadiah Hooker and Rebecca Griswold of Farmington, Connecticut, and the husband of Elisabeth Daggett. After graduating from Yale in 1805, Hooker studied law in South Carolina. Three years later he became a tutor at Yale and was appointed clerk of the faculty.
