Petition of Charles Brigham, Jr. to the Massachusetts General Court
To the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the General Court Assembled
Respectfully represents, Charles Brigham of Grafton in the County of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Trustee of the Grafton or Hassanamisco Tribe of Indians, that John Hector, one of said Tribe, occupies a certain tract of land, situate in said Grafton, [ crossout ] which has been legally assigned to him and his heirs, for their use forever; containing about five acres, with a small untenantable house and old barn thereon, bounded as follows, to wit: On the north by land of John S. Sweeney and Farmington McIntire; on the west, by said McIntire and Samuel Cisco; on the South by a public highway, and on the west by said Sweeney; that said real estate can be sold for about five hundred dollars; that said Hector to have the same sold and the proceeds of the sale invested in real estate in the said City of Worcester, where he now resides.
Therefore your Petitioner prays that he may be authorized to sell at public or private sale, and convey by deed, the real estate aforesaid, and with the proceeds of such sale, to purchase such real estate as will be most for the interest of said Hector and family, in the said City of Worcester and use of said Hector and family and heirs, forever.
