Petition of Sarah Walker to the Massachusetts General Court

To the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives in General Court Assembled

Respectfully represents Sarah Walker, wife of Gilbert Walker of Worcester in the County of Worcester, that she is the only survivor of the Phillips family1 of the Grafton or Hassanamisco Tribe of Indians, and that as such survivor, she is entitled under the Trustee of said Tribe, to the use of about twenty acres of wood and pasture land situated in the southeasterly part of the town of Grafton, and bounded by land of Royal Heath and others.  She, therefore, prays that the said Trustee may be authorized to convey and confirm to her in fee simple, the aforesaid lot of land, to hold the same and the proceeds thereof to her sole and separate use, her heirs and assigns forever.

I certify that in administering the annuity given to the Grafton Indians while I was an incumbent of the Probate Office in the County of Worcester, I had satisfactory evidence that Sarah Walker, formerly Sarah Phillips, is the only survivor of the Phillips family of that Tribe of Indians.  Ira M.   • 1. The Phillips family consisted of Boston Philips and his wife, Sarah Burnee, their children Sarah "Boston" Philips and Benjamin Philips. Sarah Boston had two children -- Stephen and the petitioner, Sarah Mary.
