Petition of John Hector and Harry Arnold to the Massachusetts General Court
To the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives
Respectfully represent John Hector and Harry Arnold, nephews1 and heirs at law of Moses Gimbee, late of Worcester, one of the Hassanamisco Tribe of Indians, that said Gimbee left a small garden and dwelling house, which, upon the decease of his widow and only son,2 rightfully demanded to your petitioners, that by a resolve of the last General Court,3 Charles Brigham, Esquire, the Trustee of said Indians, was authorized to sell the whole of their unoccupied land, and he, therefore, sold the Gimbee estate above mentioned. Now, your petitioners pray that the said Trustee be directed to dispose of the whole of the proceeds of said sale for their benefit, as shall be deemed legal and right, and not for the benefit of said tribe generally, as, by mistake, provided in said resolve.
