Resignation of Josiah Lacey as Guardian of the Golden Hill Indians
To the Honorable General Assembly of the State of Connecticut Now in Session at New Haven
Whereas at a former session of said Assembly, namely, in October 1802,1 the subscriber was appointed by said Assembly guardian and agent to the Golden Hill Indians, so-called, to take care of their property and apply the interest thereof for their necessities, and by a resolve of said Assembly said guardian was directed to give bonds to the Judge of Probate for the District of Fairfield for a faithful performance of his trust and to account with said judge therefor, having performed the aforesaid trust for the term of five years and having accounted with said Judge of Probate as per his certificate dated October 6, 1807, herewith handed, now begs leave to resign his trust and prays Your Honors to accept his resignation and to appoint some other person in his stead.
