[1] Both Mark Daniels and Captain Peter Avery provided board and care for a young Pequot child, not quite two years old, for a period of three years, after the boy was left in the community by his mother. The child suffered a tragic accident shortly upon his arrival at Mashantucket and this left him requiring constant care and medical attendance. See Petition of the Selectmen of the Town of Groton to the Connecticut General Court and associated documents for more detail.
